The teaching I got at CALES was fantastic |

| I had the good chance of choosing CALES for one month of intensive Arabic lessons, one-to-one, in August 2009. In total, I had 80 lessons in "Fusha" (half conversation, half grammar), and some calligraphy lessons. My teachers, one for each subject, were excellent. I had four lessons daily, plus the once weekly calligraphy lesson.
I should mention that before coming to CALES, I had previous knowledge in Arabic, especially the Syrian dialect, and some training in "Fusha", which albeit was not systematic, and I arrived at CALES being able to read and write. All previous knowledge does not stem from any formal university studies, since I am a historian by training and began with my Arabic studies well after my time at university.
